Ambient Utility

Firmware flashing and device management

What is Ambient Utility?

Ambient Utility is a desktop app that lets you flash firmware onto your ambient one device, update it when new versions are released, and run diagnostics. It's the recommended way to keep your device up to date.

Where do I download Ambient Utility?

Download the latest version from this link. macOS and Windows versions are available.

Make sure to download the version that matches your operating system.
How do I flash firmware onto my device?
  1. Connect your ambient one to your computer via USB-C.
  2. Open Ambient Utility.
  3. Your device should appear automatically in the device list.
  4. Select the firmware version you want to flash and click Flash.
  5. Wait for the process to complete — do not disconnect the device during flashing.
If your device doesn't appear, try a different USB cable or port. Some cables are charge-only and don't support data transfer.
My device isn't detected by Ambient Utility

Try the following:

  1. Use a different USB-C cable — many cables are charge-only.
  2. Try a different USB port on your computer.
  3. On Windows, you may need to install the USB driver — see the instructions in the Ambient Utility app.
  4. Restart Ambient Utility with your device already connected.
The flash failed or got stuck

If flashing fails or freezes:

  1. Do not disconnect the device — wait a full minute before doing anything.
  2. Close and reopen Ambient Utility.
  3. Try flashing again. The process is safe to retry.
  4. If it fails repeatedly, contact support.
A failed flash does not permanently damage the device. You can always retry.
