Hi,
A quick update, and an apology.
Batch 2 is taking longer than we said it would. The bottleneck has been certification: the testing that allows a device to legally cross a border.
FCC (for the US) is now complete. CE (for Europe) is in the final stretch, and it is stricter, especially on fire safety. That is why it takes longer. We decided it was better to ship later and wait for all final lab results rather than rush anything.
The good news is we already have 300 ambient one units tested, boxed, and labelled, ready to go.

Where things stand
Shipping plan
US orders. Our warehouse partner is in place, and the first test shipment has already gone out. Remaining US orders start shipping early next week.
UK and EU orders. We expect to begin shipping in June once CE is signed off. We are currently targeting 4 June.
That is the honest picture. If you have been waiting since April, thank you for sticking with us. We are sorry for the delay.
What we improved from Batch 1
When we shipped Batch 1 to 433 Kickstarter backers, we learned how much detail goes into building hardware properly. Batch 2 has benefited directly from that experience:
- Tighter machining tolerances on the aluminium body for a more consistent fit and finish.
- A refined assembly sequence that reduces build time without cutting corners.
- Improved packaging to better protect the glass cover and anodised finish in transit.
Batch 2 is still the same ambient one in all the ways that matter: same sensor stack, same capabilities, same build quality, now with a smoother production process behind it.
In other news
Firmware 0.7.x is now rolling out with new on-device screens and improved stability.
The app is in active development. We are testing better ways to deliver insights and improving activities and historical data visualisation.
After shipping is complete, we will be in Copenhagen for 3 Days of Design to show ambient one in person. If you are around, come say hello.
